Mumbles Beach

Mumbles Beach Swansea is a small, scenic beach located at Mumbles Head, at the western edge of Swansea Bay. Just minutes from Swansea city centre, it is one of the most popular and accessible beaches near Swansea and a gateway to the Gower Peninsula.

The beach is made up of sand, pebbles and rock pools, with more sand revealed at low tide. This makes Mumbles Beach ideal for families, rock pooling, walking and relaxing, while offering excellent views across the Bristol Channel.

Mumbles Pier and Lighthouse

One of the most famous landmarks is Mumbles Pier, a historic Victorian pier built in 1898, which sits beside the beach. Offshore, the iconic Mumbles Lighthouse, built in 1794, stands on the outer Mumbles islet and continues to guide ships into Swansea Bay.

Mumbles Village and Promenade

Behind the beach, the village of Mumbles offers cafés, ice cream parlours, restaurants and shops, as well as the Mumbles Promenade, a popular walking and cycling route connecting Mumbles to Swansea.

With its historic landmarks, seaside village atmosphere and easy access to Gower's award-winning beaches, Mumbles Beach is one of the best beaches in Swansea and South Wales.

Safety Information

Always check the tide times before visiting. Only attempt to cross to the lighthouse islet with caution — the crossing can be cut off quickly by the incoming tide.
