Fairwood Bus Stop Vandalism
The shelter has became something of local landmark since local artist, Steve Jenks Jenkins, sought official permission to paint a beautiful nature-themed mural celebrating the importance of bees to the world on one of its walls. This succeeding a plainer mural there, which featured on the shelter stating "I love bees" with a few comic-style bees painted around it, which in turn succeeded the words "I love freedom" (painted during the covid lockdown), and a similar ugly scrawl "I love beef" (hurriedly scribbled there during a bovine disease outbreak amongst locally farmed cows.
In August 2026, vandals scrawled the words "I love beef" again over the now iconic mural, sparking an online outrage at the well-loved mural's disfigurement. Luckily, the artist has coated his mural with an anti- graffiti coating. So the scrawled proclammation of the vandal's prediliction for eating slaughtered cows will hopefully be erased soon and the original pro-wildlife mural restored to its former glory.
